New Executive Board Named
DUNN, NC / OCTOBER 20, 2005
Energy Conversion Systems LLC was merged
with Kane Magnetics LLC in July 2005 and the combined business, operating
as Energy Conversion Systems (ECS) has been integrating its various
companies to form a new, global organization focused on using its product
and technical resources to serve its customers. ECS is a global business
with 12 operating companies in 8 countries and has over 1,800 workers.
To better coordinate the management of our global business and ensure ECS has
focused its technical capabilities to best serve its customers, ECS announces
the formation of an Executive Board of managers. These executives represent the
eight senior members of our global management team charged with the execution
of our business and the development of our new technologies to benefit our customers.
This is a global team to represent the global nature of our business.
Gary Riley, President and CEO
Gary was named President and CEO in February 2005. He previously served as COO
of Magnequench, Inc, and prior to that he was CEO of Xolox Corporation and Executive
Chairman of Xolox Malaysia. He also has served as President of Zollner Pistons,
a Tier 1 supplier of automotive and heavy-duty pistons. He began his professional
career with Price Waterhouse, where he achieved Partner (Mergers and Acquisitions)
in 1989. Gary holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Morehead State University
and an M.S. in Accounting from University of Kentucky. He has served as a director
of Applegate Steel, Wolverine Brass, and Seilkop Industries.
Lyle Lohmeyer, Chief Financial Officer
Lyle joined Kane Magnetics in April 2004, and became CFO of ECS in July 2005.
Lyle earned a B.S.G.M. from Purdue University, and a M.S.M. at Northwestern University.
Prior to joining ECS, Lyle held a variety of financial management positions with
companies such as NavTech, GenCorp, and Tenneco Automotive. He started his career
with Price Waterhouse and is a CPA.
Shepard Hockaday, Global Technical Director - Carbon Technology
Shepard joined Morganite, Inc. (later ECS) in 1990 as a Manufacturing Engineer.
He has held various positions, including Manufacturing Manager for the Commutator
Division and Engineering Manager for the Carbon Division. Prior to joining ECS,
Shepard was an Analytical Engineer with United Technologies
– Pratt & Whitney. He holds a B.S. in Engineering from North
Carolina State University and an M.S. in Engineering from University
of Florida. In addition, he is a graduate of the Young Executives Institute
at University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
Shepard serves on the Advisory Board of NC State University Integrated
Systems Engineering Institute (IMSEI). He is a member of the National
Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical
Engineers.
Suitbert Kessler, Global Technical Director - Magnetic Products
Suitbert holds a degree in Physical Engineering from the School of Engineering
at Iserlohn. He has held positions of increasing responsibility in Krupp Widia,
later Magnequench GmbH and Kane Magnetics GmbH, since 1966 he has been a manufacturing
engineer and has progressed through various assignments in plant and operations
management. He became President of Magnequench Europe in 2001.
Neil Thompson, Global Vice President – European Operations
Neil started with the Morgan Auto/Consumer Group (later ECS) in October 2002.
He came to ECS from Visteon, where he served as Plant Manger in Swansea, UK.
He joined Ford Motor Company in 1986, as an engineer and supervisor. He held
progressively more responsible positions including engineering and manufacturing
management. Neil has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Nottingham
University, and a Master’s in Engineering from Brunel University. He is
a Chartered Engineer from the Institute of Materials.
W.S. Yoon, Global Vice President –Asian Operations
Mr. Yoon holds a B.S. degree in Metallurgy from DongAh University and Diplomas
in Advanced Management from Hanyang and Seoul National Universities. In 1980
he joined Karahm Carbon Ltd (later Morgan Auto/Consumer and later ECS -Korea)
as the General Manager of the Korean Carbon Division. He became VP and Managing
Director of the Morgan Auto Consumer Group – Asia in 1998, and today leads
our Asian efforts in Korea and China.
Ron Kingen, Global Vice President -Americas Operations
Ron joined ECS in February 2005. Ron holds a B.S. degree in Operations Management
from Purdue University, and an MBA from Youngstown State University. Prior to
joining ECS, Ron has worked with Magnequench, Inc, Arvin Meritor, Case New Holland,
and the Packard Electric Division of General Motors (now Delphi). Ron has received
Executive Management Training from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.
He is a past-President and Board Chairman of the American Society of Quality
(ASQ). He is a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Reliability Engineer (CRE),
Quality Auditor (CQA), Quality Manager (CQM), and Six Sigma Black Belt.
Pat Reagan, Global Director of HR and Management Development
Pat started with Morganite, Inc. (later ECS) in 2001 As Director of Human Resources.
He holds a B.S. in Social Sciences from Rockford College He worked in operations
training and development with GE Plastics for 12 years. Following the completion
of an MBA from Illinois State University, Pat joined J.W. Hobbs division of BTR
(later Invensys) as HR Manager. He became Director of HR for Invensys Sensor
Systems Group before joining Morganite. He has previously served on the Illinois
Council for Workforce Development, and has co-authored two articles on employment
arbitration.
