Application Engineer

Energy Conversion Systems (ECS) is seeking a high-energy, globally-oriented candidate for the position of Application Engineer.  The position's responsibilities and qualifications will include but not be limited to:

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and execute  design of advanced technology magnetic components for commercial and automotive customers

• Review of customer requirements for correct interpretation and application, to insure that designs meet all the
requirements. Direct and approve technical alternative solutions to customers and help resolve technicalissues

• Maintains a positive customer relationship through timely and discretionary communication and works well with customer technical and purchasing personnel

• Technical support to manufacturing, test, QA, purchasing, marketing and other functions during the design execution

• Develop engineering models and tools to facilitate practical and effective magnetic component designs

• Conduct Worst Case Analysis

• Provide technical knowledge to continuous improvement efforts aimed at increasing productivity and yields
Identify and evaluate new materials, methods, and tools in order to improve current processes and/or equipment

• Direct and/or conduct validation testing of prototype designs

• Strong background in injection molding, experience with lean manufacturing techniques

• Coordinate and Manage Product Development projects

• Translate Customer technical requirements into cost effective magnetic designs

• Recommend product improvements and cost reductions

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience of product design and manufacture including product validation of magnetic components.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

• BSEE Degree Minimum

• Experience of automotive product design cycles and production launch schedules, APQP, DFMEA, and DVP&R.

• Adequate verbal and written English communication skills

• US citizen or permission to work in the USA

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering plus 7 years experience directly related to magnetic components

• Possess a high level of knowledge of magnetic materials used in electrical motor design and automotive accessories

• CAD Skill Level:  Basic 3D

• Geometric Tolerancing

• Tolerance Analysis:  Statistical

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Project

• Language – English required, bi-lingual in Spanish desirable

• Available to travel
